You can access almost all of the content on this site without registering, so why bother?

If you want to work on creating a plan for your farm, you can do it here, but only if you create an account. Then you'll be able to access all of the worksheets in the New Farmer Hub, apply the concepts you learn by reading through the site, and save your work for later. Hello, I would love to discuss the subject you have posed about beginning farmers. My family began farming about 9 yrs ago. We gave up a comfortable suburban existence in New Jersey including cushy jobs and a summer home to farm here in northern NY.
Please contact me if you would like to discuss this further. It has definately been challenging and it was definately an adventure.

I have a ton of questions - how did you finance your farm? what kind farm do you have? what research did you do before you started? did you buy land before or after you decided on your type of farm? how soon could you live off the income of your farm (not work outside the farm)? My husband and I (and our 4 kids) are still in the dreaming stages and wondering if it could ever be a reality. We're tired of him working 70-80 hours a week away from home. If he has to work that much at least farming we would be doing it together! Thanks for any tips or advice you can give me.
